It’s been another busy month as our team have taken up various invitations to take part in industry events.
Sharon Bannister, our Head of Sales and Account Management, spoke at the Cvent and Venue Directory industry round table on instant book and live availability.
The event, supported by the Meetings Industry Association (mia), gave Sharon the chance to give her insights into the industry at Radisson’s Park Plaza County Hall in London.
All the event bookers, venues and industry figures gave good feedback from the event and it was also the perfect place to discuss mia’s latest Insights survey.
Reacting to the results of the survey, Sharon said:
“The latest MIA Insights survey highlights the need for more suppliers to place their inventory of small meeting spaces online, as well as embrace the opportunities that come with greater operational efficiency and the ability to instantly convert lower revenue business. I’m delighted to see adoption is increasing but the demand from customers far outweighs the current inventory available and, as such, is stifling progress. We know our customers enjoy using our proprietary meetings technology - the time and financial savings that can be achieved by using an online tool to support their strategic meetings spend is well documented. Our online adoption rates are around 70% and increasing, demonstrating our customers are ready and willing to place their meetings business online. It's encouraging to see more venues are considering it and I would urge anyone who wants to know more, joins the next MIA instant book workshop.”

Next up in the busy schedule was attendance at International Confex in London where Sharon spoke about meetings & events insights, a 2024 round-up and will then focus on the forecast for the year ahead!
She was joined by Jo Lake who was asked to join the keynote panel for mia after being named on the prestigious miaList 2024.
Talking about ‘The pursuit of excellence: Raising the bar in the events industry’ Jo, our Operations Manager for Special Projects and Events, said:
“It is always nice to be asked to take part in a panel session and this one with Shonali Devereaux of mia was really interesting. There were lots of things we could all takeaway from the discussions and I enjoyed the feedback from people afterwards. The overarching feeling from all present is that there is lots to be excited about for the future of the industry but we’ll have to keep working hard for it!”
