One of our Event Project Managers, Kevin Harmer, visited the astounding Fairmount St Andrews to find out why it could be the perfect place for your next event!

Fairmont St Andrews is a 520-acre Scottish resort that encapsulates luxury and elegance in an area known as the Home of Golf. With its lavish surroundings, peaceful setting and stunning cliff top views of medieval St Andrews and the North Sea, it is a unique venue guaranteed to be one to remember.

Arriving by chauffeur driven blacked out Mercedes minivans from Leuchers station (10 mins from the venue), we knew it was going to be special and it didn’t disappoint.

The venue has a large sweeping entrance driveway with staff on hand to open doors, take luggage and walk you into the main reception area which has a massive open fire a cosy atmosphere.

All the bars, restaurants and lounge areas all surround the large triple story atrium area, which can be hired and would be a spectacular venue for a big group. Other areas here are the Lounge Bar (local beers, large comfortable leather sofas), Zephyr (Sports Bar with golf simulator) and afternoon tea and brunches served on the ground floor of the atrium.

Off the atrium are the conference facilities, which have a total capacity of 1500 and is split into a various spaces including the Ballroom, Atrium itself and additional Suites the corridor areas are massive too, so can be used as breakout and exhibition spaces.

We were also taken to two new self-contained residential Manor Homes which are only a few hundred meters walk from the main hotel. These are specifically designed for groups/families of up to 6 or 8 guests and is basically a home away from home with kitchen, lounge, bedrooms etc – but on another level with its styling and size.

The following morning, we visited the local whiskey distillery and gin makers – again only about 10 minutes away, perfect offsite experiences for corporate groups and they are very accommodating to bespoke experiences and museum tours to suit.

We can't forget about the Spa, which has a steam room, sauna, jacuzzi, 10x treatment rooms, 16m pool, gym and much more – all free to use (treatments are an extra cost).

For the evening meal on the last night, we transferred to the top level of the golfing clubhouse, which is right beside the sea and has pretty much 360-degree views back to the hotel, the golf course and the whole of the bay which when the sun sets and the lights around the coastline come on – it looks magical.

The Clubhouse menus is very much concentrated on seafood with many in the group choosing lobster, oysters, muscles and crab. This bar and balcony area can be hired exclusively and can seat around 80 max capacity.

For those who wish to have a stay to remember, then this must be right at the top of the list!
